Occupational Health Centre (OHC) set up and managed by Wellfinity 360 at an Indian manufacturing plant

About this corporate wellness service

Wellfinity 360 sets up and runs Occupational Health Centres (OHCs) for companies across India. We build the OHC from scratch — layout, equipment, licences and statutory documentation — then staff it with doctors, nurses and paramedics, run day-to-day operations on our own OHC software, and either train your internal team to take over or continue running it as a fully outsourced service.

Whether you are a factory covered under the Factories Act, a large corporate campus, an IT park, a warehouse or a construction site, an OHC is often both a legal requirement and the fastest way to cut absenteeism, emergency response time and medical incident costs. Most companies do not want to build that capability in-house. That is exactly what we do.

We operate pan-India — across Delhi NCR, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Indore and industrial belts nationwide — with the same standard of staffing, compliance and reporting at every site.

What is an Occupational Health Centre (OHC)?

An Occupational Health Centre — also called an OHC, occupational health centre, medical room or factory medical centre — is an onsite medical facility inside a workplace that provides first aid, emergency care, routine consultations, health checks and statutory medical examinations to employees while they are at work.

In India, OHCs are governed primarily by the Factories Act, 1948 and the corresponding State Factories Rules, along with the Building and Other Construction Workers Act for construction sites and, progressively, the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH) Code. Requirements on the size of the OHC, the qualifications of the medical officer, the equipment to be kept and the records to be maintained vary by state, by headcount and by whether the process is classified as hazardous.

Getting this wrong creates real exposure: failed inspections, penalties, invalid statutory records and — most importantly — poor emergency response when something actually happens on the shop floor.

Three ways we work with you

1. OHC setup from scratch. You have no OHC, or a room that is not compliant. We assess the site, determine what your headcount and hazard classification legally require, design the OHC layout, specify and procure the equipment and medicines, prepare the statutory documentation and registers, and get the facility inspection-ready. You end up with a functioning, compliant OHC where there was none.

2. Fully outsourced OHC management. We run it. Wellfinity 360 provides the medical staff, manages rosters and absence cover, maintains the equipment and pharmacy, runs the statutory registers and periodic medical examinations, handles biomedical waste contracts, manages emergency and evacuation protocols, and reports everything back to your EHS and HR leaders through our OHC software. Your team does not manage clinicians, licences or medical inventory at all.

3. Setup, train and hand over. Some organisations want to own the OHC internally but do not have the occupational health expertise to start it. We build the centre, write the standard operating procedures, recruit and train your medical staff on OHC operations, statutory record-keeping and emergency drills, run it alongside them through a stabilisation period, and then hand over a working centre with documented processes.

OHC staffing across India

Staffing is where most OHC arrangements break down — a doctor resigns, a nurse is on leave during an audit, or a site in a Tier 2 industrial belt cannot find a qualified occupational health physician at all.

We provide full-time and visiting medical officers, occupational health physicians, staff nurses, paramedics, first-aiders and pharmacists, with defined shift coverage and guaranteed absence backfill. Because we recruit and manage this pool nationally, a plant in Pantnagar or Hosur gets the same continuity of coverage as a corporate office in Gurgaon.

All clinicians are credential-verified, trained on your site's specific hazards and emergency protocols, and work to standardised clinical and documentation SOPs so that records are consistent across every location you operate.

OHC software, records and health analytics

Every OHC we run operates on our digital platform rather than paper registers. Consultations, injuries, near-misses, periodic medical examinations, fitness certificates, medicine issue and equipment checks are recorded digitally at the point of care.

That produces two things paper cannot. First, audit-ready statutory records that can be produced instantly during a factory inspection. Second, workforce health analytics — which departments generate the most injuries, which health risks are trending across the plant, how absenteeism correlates with specific shifts or processes — reported to EHS and HR through dashboards rather than anecdote.

For multi-site organisations this consolidates into a single national view of workforce health across every OHC we manage for you.

Statutory compliance and audit readiness

We manage the compliance layer end to end: maintenance of Form 32, Form 33 and equivalent state registers, periodic medical examinations for employees in hazardous processes, fitness-to-work certification, first-aid appliance and equipment checks, medicine expiry control, and biomedical waste handling with an authorised CBWTF operator under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules.

Documentation is maintained continuously rather than reconstructed before an inspection, and we support you directly during factory inspections and internal or customer EHS audits.

Emergency response and ambulance

An OHC is judged on the day something goes wrong. We define and drill the site emergency medical plan: first response at the point of injury, stabilisation in the OHC, ambulance dispatch, and evacuation to a mapped network of nearby hospitals with pre-agreed escalation contacts.

24×7 onsite ambulance can be provided at the site, or on-call ambulance response arranged where a dedicated vehicle is not warranted. Response protocols, drill records and incident reviews are documented as part of the OHC's operating record.

Who we set up OHCs for

Manufacturing plants and factories under the Factories Act, automotive and auto-component units, pharmaceutical and chemical plants, FMCG and food processing facilities, steel and heavy engineering, textile units, warehouses and logistics hubs, construction and infrastructure sites, IT parks, corporate campuses and shared office facilities.

Engagements range from a single plant medical room to national programmes covering dozens of sites under one contract, one clinical standard and one reporting system.

How an OHC engagement starts

It begins with a site assessment. We look at your headcount, process hazard classification, state-specific statutory obligations, existing infrastructure and current gaps, then come back with a scope covering what is legally required, what is operationally advisable, the staffing model, the equipment list and the commercial structure.

Setup timelines typically run four to eight weeks from approval to an operational OHC, depending on civil work, licensing and recruitment in that location. Multi-site rollouts are sequenced site by site with a common standard.

Frequently asked questions

What is an OHC (Occupational Health Centre)?

An Occupational Health Centre is an onsite medical facility at a workplace that provides first aid, emergency care, routine consultations, statutory medical examinations and health records for employees while at work. In India, OHCs are required for factories under the Factories Act, 1948 and the applicable State Factories Rules, with requirements varying by headcount and hazard classification.

Does Wellfinity 360 set up OHCs from scratch?

Yes. We set up Occupational Health Centres from scratch anywhere in India — site assessment, OHC design and layout, equipment and medicine procurement, licences, statutory registers and documentation — and hand over an inspection-ready facility. We can then run it for you or train your team to run it.

Can you completely outsource and run our OHC?

Yes. Fully outsourced OHC management is our most common model. Wellfinity 360 provides the doctors, nurses and paramedics, manages rosters and absence cover, maintains equipment and pharmacy, runs statutory compliance and biomedical waste, handles emergency protocols and reports everything to your EHS and HR teams through our OHC software.

Can you train our own staff to run the OHC and then hand it over?

Yes. In our setup-train-and-handover model we build the OHC, write the standard operating procedures, recruit and train your internal medical staff on OHC operations, statutory record-keeping and emergency drills, run the centre alongside them through a stabilisation period, and then hand over a working OHC with documented processes.

Which cities and states do you set up OHCs in?

Wellfinity 360 sets up and manages OHCs pan-India, including Delhi NCR, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Coimbatore and Indore, as well as industrial belts and remote plant locations across the country.

Is an OHC legally mandatory for factories in India?

It depends on headcount, state rules and whether your process is classified as hazardous. The Factories Act, 1948 and the State Factories Rules set out when an occupational health centre, ambulance room or medical officer is required. Our site assessment determines exactly what applies to your facility and what documentation you must maintain.

Do you provide OHC staffing only, without full management?

Yes. We provide OHC staffing on its own — full-time or visiting medical officers, occupational health physicians, staff nurses, paramedics and pharmacists — with credential verification, shift coverage and guaranteed absence backfill, if you already have a functioning centre and only need clinical manpower.

Do you provide OHC management software?

Yes. Every OHC we run operates on our digital platform instead of paper registers. Consultations, injuries, periodic medical examinations, fitness certificates, medicine issue and equipment checks are recorded digitally, producing audit-ready statutory records and workforce health analytics dashboards for EHS and HR.

How long does it take to set up an OHC?

Typically four to eight weeks from approval to an operational OHC, depending on civil work, licensing and clinical recruitment in that location. Multi-site rollouts are sequenced site by site against a common standard.

Do you handle biomedical waste and statutory compliance?

Yes. We maintain statutory registers and periodic medical examination records, manage fitness-to-work certification, first-aid and equipment checks, medicine expiry control, and biomedical waste disposal through an authorised CBWTF operator under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules — and we support you directly during factory inspections and EHS audits.

Can you provide a 24x7 ambulance at our site?

Yes. OHC management can include a dedicated 24×7 onsite ambulance, or on-call ambulance response where a dedicated vehicle is not warranted, along with documented emergency response, hospital evacuation protocols and drill records.
